Little Boy

Little Boy

A little boy went into a drug store, reached for a soda carton and pulled it over to the telephone. He climbed onto the carton so that he could reach the buttons on the phone and proceeded to punch in seven digits (phone numbers).

The store-owner observed and listened to the conversation:
Boy: "Lady, Can you give me the job of cutting your lawn?
Woman: (at the other end of the phone line): "I already have someone to cut my lawn."
Boy: "Lady, I will cut your lawn for half the price of the person who cuts your lawn now." Woman: I’m very satisfied with the person who is presently cutting my lawn.
Boy: (with more perseverance) : "Lady, I’ll even sweep your curb and your sidewalk, so on Sunday you will have the prettiest lawn in all of Palm beach, Florida."
Woman: No, thank you. Continue reading

MIND SET – YOU ARE SO UNREAL

YOU ARE SO UNREAL

Remove man’s objects and he becomes motionless, he is no longer relative to anything, says Roy E Klienwachter

YOU ARE SO UNREAL

YOU ARE SO UNREAL

Mankind’s ability to give life to lifeless objects, gives rise to much of the grief and frustration that he brings upon him self. He animates, or humanizes all sorts of things and other creatures then believes in his mind that they are human.
This is all part of his creative power and clearly demonstrates his ability to create his own reality. In his own life he believes the illusion of his own existence. The illusion is powerful and keeps him grounded within the parameters of his physical world. It does not stop him from reaching out to create or find new life in other lands, space or in his pet rock or stuffed animal. Mankind has an obsession to find life, where ever life may exist, even if he has to imagine it.

At some level of understanding man feels the connection to his surroundings and has a hint that it is life that created them. He humanizes so that he may get close to his surroundings and communicate. So the he may get confirmation of that connection. It is this same ability that has caused man to humanize his creator, so the he may feel the connection and be able to look him in the eye and commune.

This human quality has had the effect of making his god more approachable and less powerful. It has also added separation. The creator in reality is neither a thing nor an object, she is a thought process, and does not physically exist. God can never be found, because God is everything that is and is not.

Humanity has tried to create another stuffed toy, and has given it human qualities…put it on a pedestal and has worshipped it. He has humanized it and lives in fear of it. Man has tried to create something that already exists, that he can relate to with the human physical senses Then he does not understand why it does not react to him or respond in
human terms. Continue reading

The Great Indian CV Trick

Job-seekers are getting innovative while covering up the breaks in their career

Rucha Biju Chitrodia | TNN

Job-Seekers

Job-Seekers

Curriculum Vitae is a big word. It is Latin. And, besides, job hunters scratch at their keypads trying to customise past experience into a potent CV.

Emmay HR chief operating officer Madhu Bhojwani says 80 per cent of the CVs either have inconsistencies or people embellish them based on what they think is attractive. It is so common a practice that Bhojwani talks of candidates who withdraw their CVs, saying: “Let me come back to you with another version.’’ It is often said that even even chief financial officers are not beneath forging pre-employment certificates.

But there is a peculiar inconsistency that gains its relevance in today’s dynamic world, where employees are increasingly loyal to their own growth and requirement. It has to do with gaps in CVs, which could be an after-effect of quitting or losing one’s job.
These career breaks are then imaginatively covered up and explained away in CVs and during interviews. But such candidates may not be aware that companies are increasingly relying on verification companies such as Oxbridge and First Advantage to dig out a candidate’s real profile.

As Daljit Singh, corporate director at Bharti Tele Ventures, says: “We go for background verification for middle-level recruitments and above.’’
It would appear companies ask candidates to furnish their CVs merely to have a good laugh at their expense. A 20-something BPO candidate recently made the grave mistake of omitting his previous company’s name in a CV version sent to an HR consultant; he, instead, showed it as a gap. By some quirk of fate, it was unfortunately forwarded to the same company and he was immediately tracked down. Continue reading

8 Things You Didn’t Know About Dreams

Everyone dreams—every single night—and yet we tend to know so little about our dreams. Where do they come from? What do they mean? Can we control them and should we try to interpret them? We spoke to the dream experts to bring you nine surprising facts about dreams. Read before snoozing.

1. Dreaming can help you learn.
If you're studying for a test or trying to learn a new task, you might consider taking a nap or heading to bed early rather than hovering over a textbook an hour longer. Here's why: When the brain dreams, it helps you learn and solve problems, say researchers at Harvard Medical School. In a study that appeared in a recent issue of Current Biology, researchers report that dreams are the brain's way of processing, integrating and understanding new information. To improve the quality of your sleep—and your brain's ability to learn—avoid noise in the bedroom, such as the TV, which may negatively impact the length and quality of dreams.

2. The most common dream? Your spouse is cheating.
If you've ever woken up in a cold sweat after dreaming about your husband's extramarital escapade with your best friend, you're not alone, says Lauri Quinn Loewenberg, a dream expert, author and media personality. "The most commonly reported dream is the one where your mate is cheating," she says. Loewenberg conducted a survey of more than 5,000 people, and found that the infidelity dream is the nightmare that haunts most people—sometimes on a recurring basis. It rarely has anything to do with an actual affair, she explains, but rather the common and universal fear of being wronged or left alone.

3. You can have several—even a dozen—dreams in one night.
It's not just one dream per night, but rather dozens of them, say experts—you just may not remember them all. "We dream every 90 minutes throughout the night, with each cycle of dreaming being longer than the previous," explains Loewenberg. "The first dream of the night is about 5 minutes long and the last dream you have before awakening can be 45 minutes to an hour long." It is estimated that most people have more than 100,000 dreams in a lifetime.

4. You can linger in a dream after waking.
Have you ever woken up from such a beautiful, perfect dream that you wished you could go back to sleep to soak it all up (you know, the dream about George Clooney?)? You can! Continue reading
